Community regeneration proposal for abandoned convent in Naples
This concept transforms an abandoned convent in the Sanità district of Naples into a vibrant community centre for culture, support services, and public gathering. The proposed programme spans a five-year timeline and includes temporary use, restoration, and long-term operation through a hybrid public-private model.
Beginning with feasibility studies, structural surveys, and partnership building, the plan focuses on involving local associations, social cooperatives, and residents in the regeneration effort. Funding is envisioned through a mix of foundations, private sponsors, and public calls.
Planned features include a community café, educational and recreational areas, therapy support services, and an urban garden. Spaces for artisans, artists, and start-ups will support economic revitalisation. Migrant integration, child-friendly activities, and language courses foster inclusion.
This project aims to preserve architectural heritage while activating civic space. Inspired by successful precedents like Milan’s Mosso project, it offers a sustainable approach to neighbourhood renewal.
