Listed London flats in Bermondsey restored to single family home in conservation area

Located in a London conservation area, this listed building was originally divided into two flats. Our client wished to return it to its original four-bedroom layout. The design respects the historic character while upgrading systems and finishes to modern standards.
Planning involved heritage reporting and coordination with conservation officers. All interventions were reversible and made using materials sympathetic to the original construction.
Internally, the staircase, cornices, and fireplaces were retained or carefully replicated. Fire safety and acoustic upgrades were discreetly integrated. Layouts were reorganised for modern use without losing the scale or proportion of period rooms.
This project is an example of restoration that is both practical and respectful, where historic form meets contemporary family life.
