Ship House: Entrance and Bathroom Transformation, Amalfi Coast

The house was already well designed. Two rooms were not keeping pace with the rest of it.

The entrance lobby was a white wall with lights. No material presence, no sense of arrival. In a house with genuine character, that first impression was a missed opportunity.

The bathroom had a jacuzzi that occupied most of the available floor area. It was rarely used and absorbed space the room needed. The overall effect was dated and heavy.

The brief was focused: resolve both rooms without touching what was already working. The entrance received a material intervention that gave it presence and made it feel like a proper threshold into the house. The bathroom lost the jacuzzi and gained back the floor. The new scheme is calm, considered, and in keeping with the quality of the rest of the building.

Two rooms. The house reads as a whole now. Next project will be the kitchen.
