THE PROJECT
The first project we delivered completely from start to finish. Every decision was ours to make, and every constraint was ours to solve.
The floor was the problem. Nothing we found was right for the space: the proportions, the light, the character of the building all asked for something that did not seem to exist. Then we found a ceramicist who had spent years researching a formula originally developed by monks on the Amalfi Coast. The tile he produced from that formula was his masterpiece. Handmade, historically grounded, and made for exactly the kind of light this house sits in.
It took the entire floor budget. Everything else had to be reconsidered. The kitchen became a second-hand find. Other elements were stripped back. The decision was not difficult: the floor was the space, and everything else existed to support it.
The result is a house where one material makes the whole room. The tile carries the warmth, the history, and the character that everything else steps aside for. That is what the right floor does.
